Specification document for systems, materials and end applications (D1.2)

Deliverable 1.2 - Specification document for systems, materials and end applications was submitted on the 29/06/2017. This report document summarizes the work accomplished during the first 6 months and is related   Tasks 1.2, 1.3 and 1.4. During this period, the functional and non-functional requirements related to the end applications, the involved materials and the laser printing and sintering processes, which will be developed in the frame of HiperLAM have been specified and are presented as part of this deliverable report. These specifications have been determined according to the consortium’s combined technical capabilities in order to serve the end-user requirements. Compliance with these requirements will be verified, via a validation and evaluation processes, which are also specified in this document as acceptance criteria. This document constitutes a valuable roadmap for HiperLAM’s technology, which will then be updated in M18 with Deliverable 1.3 - Updated set of system specfications and user requirements based on feedback from other Work Packages.

Deliverable 1.2 contains all the information gathered during the first six months of the timeframe of HiperLAM, which concern the specifications of the end-applications, as well as the technological tools which will be used to demonstrate these end applications. The main body of this document is dedicated to the definition of the updated specifications of the end-applications, the printable and substrate materials and the laser printing and sintering process - tools. All these specifications are grouped into three main categories: the functional requirements which relate to the performance and the viability of the applications and the processes, the non-functional requirements which revolve around cost and power consumption metrics and finally the definition of the most appropriate methods of characterization and validation of the aforementioned specs. The document is concluded by the comprehensive table of HiperLAM’s specifications which summarises in a brief and easy to read manner all the requirements which are essential for HiperLAM’s success.

Deliverable 1.2 has succeeded to confirm the functional and the non-functional user requirements for both HiperLAM’s end-applications and to translate them into system-level specifications of all the components that are required for the laser printing and sintering processes. The specifications will be updated in M18 within the context of D1.3, according to the progress of the project achieved by then. In this respect, this document (along with D1.3, and D1.1) will serve as a technological roadmap for every action associated with the end applications and the laser printing and sintering systems, which will be decided in the duration of the project.
